Golf coach uses WebbGPT AI to elevate student practice
The Webb Schools’ golf coach, Stephen Hebert, is harnessing the power of WebbGPT AI to revolutionize his coaching approach.
Using the school’s in-house AI tool, Hebert will create individualized practice plans tailored to each student’s unique needs. Whether it’s addressing a common issue like correcting a slice with drills focused on hand position or refining advanced skills such as swing rhythm or low-point control, WebbGPT delivers plans that maximize practice efficiency (because of the data and direction input by Hebert into the system).
“The agent I’ve created in WebbGPT allows me to make individual practice plans for efficiency. I can, for example, have the agent determine how many balls a student should use during a drill or consider the most efficient use of a set of time,” said Hebert. He continued, “The ability to train WebbGPT with a database of drills and material from instructors I trust allows me to surface potential solutions and teaching materials that I may not have considered before.”
Students receive specific, actionable drills, allowing Hebert to focus practice time on providing hands-on guidance, such as refining swings, adjusting stances, or perfecting grips. “Eventually, I hope to roll this out to students, empowering them to create their own plans in consultation with me and WebbGPT,” he added.
“WebbGPT is an exciting tool for our teachers, providing an AI solution inside the safety of our Webb systems,” said Michael Hoe, Assistant Head of School. “We encourage our teachers to experiment with cutting-edge technologies to demonstrate their appropriate use to our students. This innovative application by Coach Hebert shows how AI can enhance personalized education and coaching.”
